Scuba Diving in La Paz...but no snorkeling with the Whale Sharks

Another thing I meant to do every trip down here, so decided to squeeze in a days diving at The Cortez Diving Club. The best thing about this time of year is that the busier tourist period (if there is one) is over - so as a result I had a solo trip into the Sea of Cortez with a dive master,Tomoko, and the Panga driver Adrian. All the people there were super friendly and could not be more helpful, including Jose who organised everything.

We did two 50+ minute dives, one at 60+ft around a wreck and another for the same amount of time around a reef just off the Isla EspĂritu Santo, about a half hour boat ride from the dive location. The water was clear, the number and variety of fish were amazing, including of course the Moray eels. The highlight though was probably two sea lions that swam round us for quite some time - never quite letting me touch them.

A group from Todos Santos was also planning to go out into the Sea of Cortez to snorkle with the Whale Sharks which were apparently around. Coincidentally this was planned to start from the same Club I was scuba diving from. A plane was organised to spot the sharks, but unhappily not enough people signed up, so it was cancelled........one for next time.

Actually it was not all a bad thing as a gout attack this morning meant it would have been a painful trip...note to self must rink less Tequila/Cerveza - or is it just the Tacate?!

Not seen this trip - the Whale Shark
